Photographer Lope Navo wrote another fantastic article… This time about “The World’s Oldest Living Iconic Photographers” still working today. The list include: Lillian Bassman (92)(collage 1), Robert Frank (84)(collage 2), Patrick Demarchelier (65)(collage 3), Bruce Weber (63)(collage 4) and Annie Leibovitz (59)(collage 5). Make sure to visit his blog Dangerously Naive and read the post!!!

In an industry ruled by “White Caucasian Men (gay or straight)”, Bassman is now one of the last two “great” women standing.

His frustrations with the control of the editors over his work colored his fashion magazine experience

Patrick Demachelier became a household name after the 2006’s Meryl Streep film The Devil Wears Prada with the lines- “Did Demarchelier confirm?”, and “I have Patrick!”.

Mr. Weber embraced the fashion industry and worked with virtually all the top fashion and celebrity magazines existing in the world today.

Ms. Leibovitz’s signature style is the close collaboration to her subjects and on her earlier works are have a more of orange/yellow hue tint to the present work’s blue-ish purple hue.
“People like you and I, though mortal of course like everyone else, do not grow old no matter how long we live…[We] never cease to stand like curious children before the great mystery into which we were born.” – Albert Einstein’s letter to Otto Juliusburger

Cover image (although books bought in Louis Vuitton stores carry a special-edition cover featuring Takashi Murakami’s 2003 Monogram Hands print), ad campaign by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott
Luxury and art have never been more closely linked than they are in these early years of the twenty-first century. Virtually all the world’s major luxury houses have associated themselves with contemporary art through sponsorships, commissions, or foundations, and these points of exchange nourish the increasingly symbiotic relationship between fashion, art, and other design disciplines. Of all modern luxury brands, Louis Vuitton can claim to maintain the richest and most varied associations with the world of art. Included in this volume are Louis Vuitton’s important collaborations with an elite group of artists, architects, designers, and photographers, such as Jun Aoki, Shigeru Ban, Vanessa Beecroft, Olafur Eliasson, Zaha Hadid, David LaChapelle, Jean Larivière, Annie Leibovitz, Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, Stephen Sprouse, James Turrell, Inez Van Lamsweerde, and Vinoodh Matadin.

As part of the Disney Dream Portrait Series, world-renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz transformed High School Musical stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens into dashing Prince Phillip and lovely Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty.
D23: Did you ever think you would be portraying classic Disney characters from a classic Disney movie and a classic fairy tale?
Vanessa Hudgens: No, never, and it’s such a beautiful thing you know. I think every girl wishes to be a princess, and I finally got to do it.
Zac Efron: I used to watch these movies all the time growing up, loving these films. So to play the prince…
VH: … and a handsome prince!
